F.A.Q.

Yes, absolutely! Please visit our Dealer’s Den to see what we have in stock. We also have an Etsy store.

We only accept Paypal at this time.

Yes absolutely. We’re very flexible and happy to arrange payment plans.

We’re updating our price ranges and should have them ready soon! In any case, please reach out to us with what you’re looking for, each job is unique so we are happy to send you a personalized quote.

All our work is one-of-a-kind, custom built and painted by hand so there will be variances from piece to piece; of course we can build multiples, but cannot guarantee that they will look 100% identical.

Absolutely! We can make do with any references you have – written descriptions, napkin drawings, you name it. You will be a part of the design process every step of the way.

For props, we do conceptualization as well as fabrication. A part of the creation process is designing the piece visually, so we work together with our clients to draw up sketches. For an additional fee, we can also do polished orthographic drawings and and concept art.

For artwork, what we are willing to do is subject to our discretion. Please see our terms of service for more details on this.

For props, it is subject to available resources. Our current manufacturing space is small; we would not be able to produce extremely large pieces of work given the circumstances. Projects that require specialized tools (CNC machinery, kilns, for example), or projects that require dangerous chemicals and controlled conditions will also be declined. Dragonstorm Studios keeps connections with a global network of artists, as well as local makers with the following specialties:

  • woodwork
  • costumes / fursuit making
  • leatherwork
  • blacksmithing
  • 3D modelling and printing
  • And more

If you are looking for a maker for a specific project and need suggestions on who to connect with, send us an email!

There are no guarantees that a weapon will pass safety at an event until it is held in the hands of an in-game weapon marshal. However, if you provide us with the weapon specifications for your LARP, we will do our very best to build a weapon within those parameters to maximize the chances of a pass. We have experience as safety marshals so all commissioned boffers are tested rigorously prior to shipping.

At the moment, our boffers are only suitable for lightest touch games, they have not been tested in full contact systems.

Yes. Our boffer builds often use latex for surfacing, however we can also use rubber coatings. If you have latex allergies please let us know in advance so we can discuss build options to meet your needs.

If well cared for, our latex boffers can last for up to five or six years. Plasti-dip/rubber coated boffers can potentially last longer. All boffers experience wear and tear over time (especially in combat-heavy environments) as the foam substrate bends and creases from repeated hits and the surface skin hardens and cracks. This is natural.

To maximize your boffer’s life span, store away from direct sunlight and where possible, keep your boffers ‘point-side-up’ or mount them horizontally with hooks or on shelves. If foam stays in a bent position for too long, it will permanently crease the skin and potentially cause cracks to form, so avoid leaving them ‘point-side-down’.

No, we do not offer warranties on boffers or standard props and costumes. We can provide repair services for an additional fee, depending on the scope of work.
